Indian Head Massage
An ancient therapy based on Ayurvedic principles that includes massage of the head, face, neck and shoulders using invigorating and uplifting techniques. Much of the body’s tension is held in the scalp, neck and shoulders. Indian head massage is wonderful for relieving headaches, stress, insomnia, tension and sinusitis. The treatment is performed with the client seated and can be carried out over clothing, with or without oil, making it perfect for on-site massage in the workplace.
Our bodies hold the imprint of the stresses and strains of our life experiences. The long, slow techniques used during deep-tissue treatment focus on the deeper layers of connective tissue, fascia and any areas of muscle tension. This helps to unlock, break-down and eliminate this deep-held tension and release the toxic effects of this from the body. Deep-tissue is also wonderful for encouraging the healing of scar tissue, stimulating the lymphatic system and it helps to regulate the immune system. This treatment is perfect for both people with a specific area of discomfort and people who have no particular problems as such, but are simply in need of a boost.
Originating in the 1700s, Swedish massage is considered to be one of the first types of massage to be developed. The aim of Swedish massage is to increase the body’s absorption of oxygen, which helps the body to rejuvenate. It also contributes to the detoxification process, which speeds up the rate at which cells eliminate waste. This process encourages lymphatic drainage, flushing out lactic acid, uric acid and other toxins from the tissues. Swedish massage helps stimulate the skin and nervous system, and exercises the ligaments and tendons to keep them supple. The entire process is very relaxing and is known for its ability to reduce both emotional and physical stress.
Indonesian massage, similar to Thai Massage, incorporates compression techniques and light stretches performed over a sarong followed by a deeply relaxing full body warm oil massage working with the Chinese energy meridians. According to ancient Chinese medicine, dating back over 4000 years, meridians are our body’s energy highways, which, when aligned and flowing freely, allow a healthy, stable and vibrant life.
Thai Hot Compress Massage
Thai hot compress massage is an extremely relaxing and luxurious treatment. The compresses are made of tightly bound bundles of muslin cloth containing 17 traditional Thai medicinal herbs (including lemongrass, turmeric, kaffir lime and tamarind to name but a few) renowned for their healing, purifying & detoxifying properties. The bundles are steamed and incorporated into the massage treatment to deeply relax and iron-out muscle tension. The heat of the compress is extremely effective at melting away deep-held tension, soothing aches and easing pain.
